Fuzzy Pink luni Moth

O molie de luni în roz neclar – includens (saturniidae). Aceste molii de arțar roz sunt destul de comune în sudul Illinois, dar întotdeauna un uimitor când ies la lumină.

Not an uncommon moth, but a distinguished looking one. This is Catocala ilia (Erebidae) ((formerly Noctuidae)), and it feeds on a handful of Oaks. It came into my light over the weekend in Southern Illinois, down in the Trail of Tears State Forest. Today marks a sad day in Physics history, the Tevatron accelerator at Fermi Lab in Batavia Illinois was powered down for the last time. Once the second most powerful accelerator in the world (and most powerful in the USA), the new LHC has made this beautiful machine obsolete.
