To je, jak se říká,, právo? Two weeks ago I participated in the 5th annual National Geographic BioBlitz přes v Saguaro National Park v Tucsonu, Arizona. It was a great excuse to get back into the field and it was the first time I collected Arizona in the fall. Temps were still pushing the mid 90’s but things had been dry and the impressive abundance of the monsoon season was long gone. In total my moth colleagues and I collected around 140 druhy motýlů, 56 který byl microleps! Sadly though it seems that either other insects were far and few inbetween, nebo jiné entomologie týmy ne pečlivě shodují vše, co viděl. Pouze 190 arthropods were counted in total – jsme ztratili na cévnatých rostlin (325 druh) a dokonce i houby (205)!
Zde je krátký rozhovor se mnou opravdu hot tent with lots of kids (, který musí stejně mi to zima I nyní). Perhaps my wild estimate of a possible 15,000 druh v USA je na vysoké straně, ale to není nemožný.
