Bé, the flower is obviously Asclepias curassavica, but I don’t know about the butterfly, other than it must be some sort of hairstreak.

  • I’m going with Fulvous HairstreakElectrostrymon angelia, introduced from the West Indies and now well established in southern Florida. County? hmm… I’ll guess Dade, just because it’s where most the action in south Florida is.

    Agree with Asclepias currasavica.

    Check thatMonroe Co. 🙂

    • Nail on the head with the E. angelia! Introduced is a bit of a tricky word since this butterfly likely found its own way to floridaso it should basically be considered native, especially since the nominate subspecies is unique to south florida.

Covered your bases, but it was Monroe county. Big Pine Key more specifically. Now I need to find some bugs that make this game harder

  • I’m going with Fulvous Hairstreak too, and since more than half the BugGuide.net records are from Broward Co., that’s my guess for the county.
