Genius of the Press XV

For this issue of the genius of the press, who can tell me what’s wrong with Bu makale? It’s pretty subtle, but a clear mistake, especially for LiveScience.

Hymenoptera and diptera are orders, not species.

    • That’s not actually what I was looking for, but I would agree that it’s some really bad writing. Clearly that should readspecies of hymenoptera and diptera”. So I guess you’re right on that account!

ANCAK, there is one other error that is even a bit worse

  • Pictured critter is an hymenopteran. Doesn’t seem too subtle a mistake to me.

    • Tam – more basic insect mistakes that I would expect from a lower quality publication. A wasp is not a fly!

But other than the glaring mistakes, the story behind this is very cool. I will have to now go back and take a look at the Braconids I studied as an undergraduate! I wonder how well these color patterns hold up between species or genera

  • Whoops, bad Live Science.

Thanks for this, I missed the article that this is referencing, very cool and beautiful stuff.

  • […] Thanks for Chris at Skeptical Moth for bringing this paper, which cruised below my radar, to light. […]
