Cateva imagini de la călătoria mea mothing de week-end pe la Shell Creek, Județul San Luis Obispo. Primăvara devreme de-a lungul coastei centrale este uimitoare, și drumurile din spate au fost ambalate cu observatorii de flori. Au fost zeci de masini ocupate de familii pentru o unitate de week-end, mulți aveau prânzul la pachet și stăteau să privească cum cresc florile. În timp ce sunt fericit să văd oameni bucurându-se de frumusețea naturală, este greu de văzut daunele pe care le poate provoca călcarea lor în picioare. Cu toate acestea, dacă mai mulți oameni ar putea ieși să aprecieze natura, poate că ar fi mai ușor de protejat. Florile erau atât de strălucitoare și dense încât era dificil să te concentrezi asupra moliei, iar după câteva ore am început să orbesc puțin de zăpadă (sau așa cum va fi veșnic cunoscut acum, orb de flori). Iată câteva încercări slabe de a capta frumusețea.

How do you differentiate between Heliolonche joaquinensis and H. celeris? The pic in your goose chase post looks awfully similar to above.
De asemenea, which gold flower is that in the 1st pic that looks like a river of gold? Carol Leigh stopped her wildflower hotsheet b/c of inconsiderate trampling. It’s too bad.
It’s all in the hindwings. H. joaquinensis has black wings with a white bar and H. celeris has orange wings with a yellow bar. They are also a few hundred miles apart in distribution.
I was just assuming that flower was L. californica. I didn’t look closer…
